What is the most accurate photo printer?

Can you answer Diane’s question about Inkjets?:

I have owned 3 different HP printers….2 given to me and this last one came with a camera I wanted. I have been disappointed with all of them. Whatever the actual photo looks like is nothing like what is printed. I’ve adjusted the thing til I want to shoot it!
Is there anyone who has a really great printer that will get me excellent color quality results for accurate photos?
I’m a photography nut so quality is very important.

Inkjets Feedback: When I wanted a good printer I took my computer into the shop and ran everything they had until I found the one that gave the best results. If you use a desktop, take a photo memory card with the pictures. Most good printers have card slots. I bought a HP Photosmart 8000 series. It has seven ink cartridges and a 4X6 copy slot. The quality of the paper makes a big difference in output look. Have been very happy with the HP and Kodak paper, both glossy and matte.
